Turning to the Light Devotional

Weekly devotional gathering held via Zoom on Monday nights at 7pm. Please contact us for the meeting link.

Baha'i devotional gatherings are held in a variety of settings including homes, parks, houses of worship, and public halls. They may include spoken or sung sacred scripture from any of the world religions.

Friends in the community take turns volunteering to create the devotionals which are made up of readings from the history and writings of the Baha'i faith, music from the expansive breadth of talented devotees across the globe, as well as images and prayer. You are welcome to join us as an observer, or come prepared with a meaningful passage or prayer from any religion or faith to share with the group.

Ruhi Study Circles

Bahá’ís everywhere are engaged in a global process of learning that is helping build their capacity to apply the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh to the transformation of society. As a contribution to this learning process, the Ruhi Institute carries out action and research in the field, in order to develop programs and materials that enhance the capacity of individuals and communities to serve humanity.

Various Ruhi Study Circles are held in the Vernon area, please contact us for specific dates and times.

A study circle is a small group that meets at least once or twice a week  in a space that leads to individual spiritual empowerment. The materials include passages from the Bahá’í writings related to specific themes and acts of service. Together participants think about the application of these passages to their individual and collective lives. Participants explore together such questions as:
- How to create environments that put people in contact with the spiritual forces of prayer
- How to strengthen bonds of friendship and establish meaningful patterns of communication among people of various backgrounds
- Strengthening the centrality to community life of the education of children
- How to maintain conditions that supports the intellectual and spiritual capacities of youth
- How to generate dynamics in families that give rise to material and spiritual prosperity

The uplifting conversations that arise in these facilitated study groups allow us to have a greater understanding of ourselves and the greater community around us.

“To draw upon the spiritual roots of motivation that lie at the heart of human identity and purpose is to tap the one impulse that can ensure genuine social transformation.” – Baha’i International Community
